Registration FAQ
When is Registration?
Registration typically begins whenever the webmaster gets his act together. He usually aims for sometime in March.
The registration deadline is typically a week before the tournament. The exact date is posted on the registration page. However, registration may close earlier if the number of registered athletes reaches the maximum tournament and venue capacity.
Online registration is available and preferred. Payment is made be credit card.
Can I Register Online?
Yes you can.
In 2013, Joan took a strong dislike paper forms and deciphering people's handwriting. Now we get you to do the work of putting all the information correctly into the computer (but we made the process very simple).
Help! The Tournament Is Full! Do You Have A Waiting List?
Yes, we do. Fill out the online registration form to be added to the waiting list. You're not required to pay the registration fee at this time.
If spots become available in the tournament, we draw from the waiting list according to the shooting positions and target assignments that are available on the field.
What are the Divisions and Ages?
Senior Division - born 1994 or earlier.
Junior Division - born in 1995, 1996 and 1997.
Cadets - born in 1998, 1999, 2000 and later (but you will still have to shoot the Cadet distances).
Men and Women.
Compound and Recurve.
Junior and Cadet archers joined the Spring Classic for the first time in 2013.
What About Para-archers?
Come join us!
We don't have specific para-athete divisions. You will be shooting against able-bodied athletes. Show them how it's done!
How Do I Register For The Youth Olympic Game Trials?
This is pretty easy. Simply register for the Spring Classic in the Cadet Recurve Male division.
If you are eligible to shoot the trials by being a male athlete shooting a recurve bow and by being the right age and by shooting the qualifying score (which the webmaster doesn't know right now), then you can shoot the trials. If you don't meet all those conditions, you'll shoot in the regular Spring Classic.
If you're uncertain about whether you qualify for trials, check out Archery Canada's List.
Do I Have To Be Canadian?
No. Archers from anywhere in the world are welcome to compete. In the past, we've had American, Barbadian and Argentinian shooters join us.
Tournament Fees and Payment Methods
The specific fees for the current year's tournament are listed on the registration page.
You have a couple of ways to pay. Credit Card is the easiest and quickest for you and the league. We use PayPal to securely handle these transactions. We also accept Interac payment. Cheques and cash can be used for payment with arrangements. If these option don't work for you, Contact Us.
Occasionally, although fortunately rarely, a cheque will bounce and we'll have to ask you to cover any bank charge that is levied against the tournament.
Can I Get a Refund?
Refunds will not be issued after the Monday immediately preceding the tournament.
If a refund is requested on or before this date, a full refund will be provided less a $15 fee.
The reason we withhold some funds is that we have numerous items that have to be ordered and paid for well before the beginning of the season.
Security of Information
Our online registration process has information flowing to two different servers.
All athlete information is stored on our password protected database server as part of our webhosting package.
The financial transactions involving credit cards are handled by PayPal through their secure website involving encrypted communications with your computer. Credit card information is never handled by the Ontario Spring Classic. PayPal simply provides this website with confirmation of your payment.
Where's Your Privacy Statement?
I guess it would be here.
Any information you provide to us will only be used to run the Ontario Spring Classic archery tournament. We will not collect any information that does not help to to run the tournament.
The list of athletes and their shooting results will be posted on our website.
The results of the tournament will be provided to Archery Canada for publication on their website and for their internal use (i.e. Ranking Lists,...).
We will never share or sell our participant information to other parties.
There's probably a lot more we could or should say, but that's the gist of it.

On Sunday, June 15th.
Practice is at 8:30am
The elimination round will start at 9:00am
Who Advances To The Elimination Round?
Everyone who shoots on Saturday will advance to the elimination round on Sunday.
How Does The Elimination Round Work?
All Senior and Junior, Men's and Women's recurve matches are shot at 70m. All Cadet, Men's and Women's, recurve matches are shots at 60m.
All recurve matches will be shot on a "large" 122cm target face.
Senior and Junior recurve archers will compete against each other. Cadets will compete against Cadets.
All recurve archers will shoot "set" competition.
Each set (an end of 3 arrows) an archer wins, the archer earns 2 points
Each set (an end of 3 arrows) an archer looses, the archer earns 0 points
If the set (an end of 3 arrows) is tied, each archer earns 1 point.
If a match is tied (when each archer has 5 set points) ties are broken with each archer shooting a single arrow.
The archer with the arrow closest to the centre wins the match.
The first archer to score 6 points wins the match.
All compound matches for all divisions are shot at 50m.
All compound matches will be shot on a "small" 80cm face that only shows the blue, red and gold rings.
Senior and Junior recurve archers will compete against each other. Cadets will compete against Cadets.
All compound archers will shoot "match" competition.
Each match is 5 ends of 3 arrows. Scores are kept in the normal way.
The archer with the highest total score for the 15 arrows wins the match.
Ties for a match are broken with each archers shooting a single arrow.
The archer with the arrow closest to the centre wins the match.
What Distance Will Cadets Shoot During The Elimination Rounds?
Cadet recurve archers will shoot sets in the elimination round at 60m. They will compete against other cadets for medals.
Cadet compound archers will shoot matches in the elimination round at 50m. They will compete against other cadets for medals.
Is It Single Or Double Elimination?
The Spring Classic uses double elimination.
When an archer loses a set/match, he/she will advance to a “B” pool. If the archer loses a second match, he/she is eliminated. The final two archers in the “B” pool will advance to the semi-finals of the tournament with the opportunity to win the Gold, Silver or Bronze medal.
This format gives everyone a minimum of two matches. (Obviously, we think the experience gained by shooting additional matches is good for athlete development).
How Will I Know What Target To Shoot On During The Elimination Round
Diagrams for the elimination round with butt numbers will be on large scoreboards on the field.
What Is An Agent?
An agent is a person who acts on behalf of the archer at the target. They do the scoring for the archer who remains at the shooting line. As such, they require knowledge of how to do properly (but that's pretty easy to pick up).
This speeds up the medal matches
